The Nest // Home Tour: Part 1

The Nest // Home Tour: Part 1
Ok folks... ready or not... here it is - the home tour. One part at a time. Let's break down this little house room by room. Here is (you guessed it!) the floor plan.

As I've told you back here, this is a ranch style house that is approximately 1300 square feet. It has three bedrooms and two bathrooms (we added one of those bathrooms!). It may seem a bit small but it is a lot of house for just me and the husband. We are still slowly filling it up. I plan to share it's "fullness" with you in bits and pieces.

Let's start with the outside. We sit on a corner lot - which I actually kind of like. We have neighbors behind us and to the left of us if you are looking at the house face on.

As you can see, we've done quite a few updates to the outside of the house. Little details make a big difference! I love our bright green door. There is still much to be done but big progress has been made. Our yard was neglected for so long and we are finally growing more grass than weeds. Updates we've made to the outside:
  • Landscaping (new stone wall, flower beds and mulch)
  • Seeded grass
  • Painted foundation (new grates and vents)
  • Painted front door (new locks and knob)
  • Replaced exterior lights
  • Replaced mailbox
  • Replaced house numbers
  • Power washed all siding and gutters

I'm sure I'm forgetting something. And as a side note, I use the term "we" loosely. This project has NOT been just Kris and I. Much of this could not have been accomplished without the help of my mom and stepdad.

Moving on - we come to the living area. This is always a work in progress. In fact, these photos are probably already a bit outdated. I rearrange and change things around on the reg.

Opening up to the living room is my second favorite room in the house... the kitchen. I love the kitchen because I literally picked out every little detail. You name it - I picked it. You can tell from the photos we started from nothing. There was no previous kitchen to work from.

Slowly but surely we are putting the pieces together. There is so much more to come! I'm hoping this little series will inspire me to get my butt in gear on a few places in the house that are lacking. I'll be back with more before long.
