So, it's Winter Break, 2012 is almost over, a new semester about to begin and I have a to-do list a mile long. I always try to get as much done as possible over break. One of my goals this break was to organize my entire kitchen. Well needless to say, it happened! I not only did my kitchen, I continued right on into my laundry room and next stop is the bedroom closet. I'm a little embarrassed to show you these next couple of photos. But here they are, the before. WHAT. A. MESS.
It made my husband completely crazy but I cleared out EVERYTHING from EVERY cabinet in our kitchen. I believe his exact comment to me was "for someone who likes things clean and organized, you sure do make quite a mess!". My response - "Gotta take one step backward, in order to take two steps forward. I didn't just take two steps forward, I catapulted into heaven once this project was complete. Seriously. I kept my cabinets open all day just so I could admire my handiwork. :)
Drum roll please! Here is the after...
Man, I love it! And do you want to know probably my favorite part about this entire reorganizing project? It cost me less than $30! Yes, that's right everything I purchased to help me organize my horribly unorganized cabinets was purchased at Dollar Tree. Here's the breakdown of what I purchased.
Once I had everything cleared out of the cabinets, I started to put stuff back in using my new Dollar Tree purchases. I whipped out some post-it notes and a pin and started labeling each basket, bucket and tub. Once I had a spot for everything, I took note of all the labels I had made with post-it notes and headed for the computer. Post-it's weren't going to cut it for me. If I'm reorganizing you can bet that it's going to look pretty! I scanned Pinterest for some ideas and gather a bit of inspiration and then went to down. I came up with these labels and I'm really happy with they way they turned out.
I was pretty motivated once I got into my kitchen cabinet project that I just kept right on going into the laundry room. I actually ended up making a second Dollar Tree run to grab a few items for this space.
It is the best feeling in the world for me to be organized! I love it. This project took me a large chunk of my day but it was so worth it in the end. Is anyone else out there have a great organizing story from this Winter Break? Would love to hear it!
